Drinking water Do you own a private well?
Get your water tested to protect your and your family’s health
If you own a private well, you are responsible for the quality of your drinking water. The only way to ensure your water is safe is to get it tested.
Even water that tastes good may be contaminated with microbes that are harmful to your health. Water that is colourless, odourless and tasteless is not necessarily safe to drink. Different contaminants in the water can cause illnesses like gastroenteritis or other health problems.
General public: What about tap water?
A boil water advisory or notice to boil water means that water in the local system is unsuitable for drinking and must be boiled for at least one minute at a rolling boil before you can drink it.
