Dr. Tung Tran is a general surgeon and specialist in bariatric, laparoscopic and upper gastrointestinal surgery. He received his medical degree from McGill University, where he also completed a master’s in epidemiology.

He did an additional fellowship year in laparoscopic and bariatric surgery at Penn State Hershey Medical Center in Pennsylvania before starting his career in bariatric surgery at Medstar Washington Hospital Center in Washington. He returned to Quebec, at the Hôpital de la Cité-de-la-Santé in Laval, in 2016.

“I decided to specialize in bariatric surgery because this surgery has a big impact on patients’ quality of life. Each person has different goals, whether to regain their quality of life or mobility, stop taking medication, or watch their grandchildren grow up. My job is to properly communicate information about their options and work with patients to help them achieve their goals. Patients are extremely grateful to have bariatric surgery.”

Dr. Guy Flanagan is a general surgeon who specializes in bariatric surgery.

After getting his degree in surgery from Université de Montréal in 1999, he developed an interest in bariatric surgery starting in 2007. He became a mentor in bariatric surgery at the Hôpital de la Cité-de-la-Santé and developed training.

A nurse clinician since 1996, Sylvie Labelle has developed diverse surgical expertise. In 2016, she decided to take up a new professional challenge with bariatric surgery.

Valérie has a bachelor’s degree in nutrition and is a member of the Ordre professionnel des diététistes du Québec.

“I am interested in bariatric clients because I find that people still have misconceptions about this topic. My role is to improve services in this area and provide non-judgemental support throughout this process to help you improve your relationship with food and with yourself.”
