Sexual assault is any unwanted sexual act that occurs with or without physical contact. Sexual assault interferes with basic rights, particularly a person’s right to physical and psychological safety.

Get help and services
In Laval, victims of sexual assault can get comprehensive and confidential services, whether or not you intend to proceed with charges (for people aged 12 and older).
Medical and social services for sexual assault consist of:
- Medical care and psychosocial services.
- Help throughout the legal process.
- Support for loved ones.
- Close collaboration with different partners (the police, Director of Youth Protection, the Crime Victims Assistance Centre, and community organizations).
- These services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Where to go if you are the victim of a sexual assault:
- Within 5 days of the assault
Go to the emergency room of the Hôpital de la Cité-de-la-Santé to see a health care professional. This service is available at all times.
