How do I get a free appointment at a clinic?
Before making an appointment for an abortion, you must first do a pregnancy test at home, at the pharmacy, or at your CLSC. Once you have confirmed that you are pregnant and that you have made the choice to have an abortion, you can get an appointment.
When you call, you will be asked for your name, phone number, the date of the first day of your last period, as well as information about your health. Outside of opening hours, leave a voice mail message with your name and phone number as well as instructions about the best time to reach you. The decision to have a voluntary termination of pregnancy (VTP) instead of continuing with your pregnancy can be very difficult to make. However, rest assured that our staff will fully respect your decision. None of our staff members will judge you about the reasons for your choice, about which they will remain neutral. They will treat you with respect, understanding, empathy, competence and kindness. They will also perform the procedure under the strictest confidentiality. Our goal is to support you in order to create the best possible conditions for this procedure.
Abortions are only done by appointment, and you must absolutely have someone accompany you home after the procedure.
The mission of the abortion clinic of the CLSC du Marigot is to provide women in Laval and neighbouring regions with quick access to abortion services. Any woman who has a valid health insurance card, a temporary attestation of stay from the Régie de l’assurance maladie du Québec, an immigration document, or any other document allowing you to access health care in Quebec can access this free service. In all other circumstances, you can still get an abortion, but you must pay the fees for the procedure beforehand.

How much does an abortion cost?
If you have a Quebec (RAMQ) health insurance card or a valid immigration document, the abortion is free. Otherwise, you must pay fees before the procedure.
Is the procedure painful?
You will be given medication to control your pain. However, a common symptom is a feeling similar to menstrual cramps. Your medication dose can be increased if needed.
Is the procedure dangerous?
Statistics show that complications are rare. The complications that do occur are generally minor, such as an infection, which is easily treated. Having an abortion does not affect your fertility. STBBIs are what have an impact on your fertility.
